Ohio State athletics: Teams score high in latest NCAA academic ratings

The NCAA released its latest Academic Progress Rate scores on Wednesday, and all of Ohio State’s athletic teams are above the threshold needed to avoid potential penalties, such as loss of postseason eligibility.

Two Buckeyes teams had perfect scores of 1,000 — women’s cross country and women’s tennis. Football had a score of 973. The men’s basketball team’s score was 975, one point lower than that of the women’s basketball team.

Scores are measured on a four-year basis. Programs with scores below 930 face penalties.

“The numbers look great,” said John P. Bruno, Ohio State’s faculty athletics representative.
