Ohio State 2026 QB Target Brady Smigiel Decommits from Florida State, Buckeye Coaches Hit the Recruiting Trail Visiting Various Prospects

One of Ohio State’s top signal-caller targets for the 2026 class has reopened his recruitment.

Four-star California quarterback Brady Smigiel decommitted from Florida State on Sunday, breaking off a commitment that had stood since June. The decommitment seems significant given that Ohio State offensive coordinator Chip Kelly just visited Smigiel on Saturday.

The decommitment isn’t purely OSU-related, though, as Florida State just changed its offensive scheme by hiring Gus Malzahn as offensive coordinator and the Seminoles may not be as good an on-field fit for Smigiel anymore.
