Ohio Dominican athletic director Jeff Blair and university president Peter Cimbolic didn’t have to search far to hire a football coach. Interim coach Kelly Cummings was right down the hallway in his office at the Griffin Center.
The university announced on Friday that Cummings, who had been defensive coordinator the past three seasons, would succeed Bill Conley. On Jan. 8, Conley and the university parted ways after six seasons because they could not agree on terms of a contract extension. He had a 46-21 record.
It was suggested to Cummings that Panthers fans probably are relieved knowing there would be so much continuity on the coaching staff.
