COLUMBUS: During a Dark Night at the Shoe promotion in which most of the 108,423 in attendance wore black and the team wore black uniforms, Ohio State might have finally shed some light on its quarterback situation.
The No. 1-ranked Buckeyes (7-0, 3-0), led almost entirely by J.T. Barrett and not starting quarterback Cardale Jones, overpowered Penn State with a stout running game and cruised to a 38-10 win Saturday night.
Jones struggled in the first quarter and the offense stalled, allowing Penn State (5-2, 2-1) to take an early 3-0 lead. Barrett, who since last week has been inserted as the quarterback once the team reaches the red zone, was put into the game to start the second quarter with OSU at the Penn State 31-yard line.
