Nick Swisher Opts Out of New York Yankees Minor League Deal to Spend More Time with Family

Nick Swisher is taking a break from baseball.

The switch-hitting journeyman outfielder and Ohio State alumnus, drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2004, played for five clubs during his career. He was a 2010 All-Star and a 2009 World Series champion with the New York Yankees.

Swisher played for the Atlanta Braves in 2015. Afterwards, he signed a minor league contract with Scranton RailRiders, where averaged 255/.297/.377 with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 55 games. It's not good enough to earn tread, unfortunately.

After the birth of my second child, Ive decided to take a step back and spend the rest of this season with my wife and two daughters.
