When Nick Vannett was drafted with the 94th pick in the draft by the Seattle Seahawks, he was the 10th Ohio State player to be selected. That is two better than the record set by the University of Tennessee in the 2000 draft for the most picks in the first three rounds.
With five Buckeyes drafted in the first round, it seemed certain that the record was bound to fall. Then surprisingly, only two Ohio State players were drafted in the second round, wide receiver Michael Thomas and safety Vonn Bell. Thomas and Bell were both selected by the New Orleans Saints with the 47th and 61st picks.
