On April 1, Dispatch reporter Jim Massie, two weeks from retirement, was struck by a sports utility vehicle while crossing Broad Street, corner of Third Street, in the bright light of midday. Funny, but Massie is an ardent anti-jaywalker. He always uses the crosswalks and always waits for the signal. He obeyed all the rules and still got Honda Piloted.
Massie hit his head on the hood of the car and then on the asphalt. It is unremarkable that his skull did not fracture because, well, that’s how hard his head is. He sustained a concussion and was hospitalized overnight before being discharged to his duties.
