Ohio State’s fourth-quarter rally came up short and the host Buckeyes (5-5) fell 9-8 to second-ranked Notre Dame (6-1).
Johnny Pearson had a career-high four goals and five points for OSU, and goalkeeper Tom Carey made 12 saves.
The Buckeyes led 4-3 at halftime, but the Irish scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter and eventually took a 9-6 lead in the fourth.
Pearson and Carter Brown scored late in the fourth to make it 9-8, but the OSU couldn’t tie the score.
