PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Keita Bates-Diop and Jae’Sean Tate both had double-doubles, Kam Williams added 19 points off the bench and Ohio State fended off an upset challenge from Rutgers with a 79-69 victory today in front of 5,658 fans in the Rutgers Athletic Center.
The Buckeyes (16-10, 8-5 Big Ten) flirted with danger in the second half as Rutgers (6-19, 0-12) pulled within seven points on four different occasions. Williams buried a three-pointer the final time to push Ohio State ahead 70-59 and remove any real doubt.
Still, it could be considered progress for the woeful Scarlet Knights, who have now lost 27 straight games against Big Ten opponents dating to January 2015.
