No. 1 Maryland defeated No. 2 Ohio State, 10-9, for the Big Ten men's lacrosse championship Saturday night in Jesse Owens Stadium. It was Maryland's second conference title in as many years.
The hometown crowd at Jesse Ownes Memorial Stadium wasn't enough to spur the local team to victory, as it went down to the Terrapins in the opening minutes.
The teams went into halftime deadlocked at four goals a piece and traded goals throughout the second half.
Tied at 8-8 a piece, Maryland junior midfielder Connor Kelly split the Ohio State defense and buried a goal to make it 9-8 Terrapins.
