COLUMBUS: J.T. Barrett should be Ohio State’s starting quarterback.
Not just Sept. 7 at Virginia Tech, but for as long as he’s healthy enough to wear the scarlet and gray.
Some have suggested that this summer’s competition between Barrett and Cardale Jones has been a sham, that the 11-1 record Barrett compiled and the 17 school records he set or tied before breaking his ankle against Michigan were enough to earn him the job.
While I’ve said for months that OSU coach Urban Meyer should choose Barrett, I don’t agree with the sham premise. I believe Meyer wanted to give Jones a legitimate shot after he went 3-0 in the Big Ten Championship game and the College Football Playoff.
