Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson picked up a nomination on Wednesday for the 2017 Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top assistant. He was one of 56 picks.
Ohio State hasn't won the award since 2014, when it was given to then-offensive coordinator Tom Herman. The only other Buckeye winner was then-defensive coordinator Jim Heacock in 2007.
An 18-member selection committee of "distinguished former head coaches" and a commitee representing the Football Writers Association of America will eventually select 15 semifinalists, five finalists, and an overall winner to be named on Tuesday, Dec. 5th.
