Coming out of his first spring at Ohio State, Kye Stokes looked to be on the fast track to potentially playing an immediate role in the Buckeyes’ secondary as a true freshman. It didn’t turn out that way.
Even though Stokes was the first freshman to lose his black stripe last offseason and a star of the Buckeyes’ spring game, he ended up playing only 82 defensive snaps in his first year at Ohio State. Thirty-two of those snaps came in Ohio State’s fifth game of the season as Rutgers, when he filled in at nickel safety after Tanner McCalister exited the game with Cameron Martinez unavailable.
