CLEVELAND, OHIO -- Thank goodness for the sanity at the top of the Associated Press Top 25 men's basketball poll, where Kentucky remains No. 1 followed by Maryland, with No. 3 Michigan State arguably the most impressive team in the country early on.
The Spartans defeated Boston College, Boise State and Providence to remain undefeated last week, and get coach Tom Izzo his 500th career victory. Michigan State, 7-0 on the season, got two first-place votes and totaled 1,510 points this week.
Kentucky (6-0) got 59 first-place votes and 1,619 points.
