Joe Blundo: Five Ohio State names you can put on a T-shirt without violating trademarks

I like saying that because it carries a whiff of the illicit.

The coach’s name and likeness are trademarked by Ohio State University, which sues those who use it without permission.

The latest suit targets CafePress, the Internet company that puts custom logos on T-shirts, mugs and other merchandise. OSU says the company, without authorization, has infringed on the university’s numerous trademarks.

Besides Urban Meyer, here are a few of OSU’s other trademarked symbols, words and colors: Go Bucks, the OSU buckeye leaf, the colors scarlet and gray, the arm motions that form O-H-I-O , Brutus Buckeye, Script Ohio and the 'Shoe.
