“Scoop-and-Sawyer” will be remembered forever and received more recognition on Saturday.
Sawyer's strip sack that he returned for a score to give OSU a 14-point lead over Texas instantly became a legendary play in Ohio State's storied history. But what it led to made it the type of play that cemented Sawyer's legacy as a Buckeye forever.
Following a month-long, bracket-style voting contest that began Feb. 5 and included 16 plays that Ohio State thought were its best plays of the season, Sawyer's scoop-and-score was named the Play of the Year for the Buckeyes.
