With an 8-3 win over Russian wrestler Shamil Musaev in Sunday’s 97kg finals, Snyder became the first-ever wrestler from the United States to win three titles at the Yariguin Grand Prix, which many consider to be the world’s toughest international wrestling tournament.
Snyder, who previously became the youngest American winner of the Yariguin in 2017 and the first American man to win two Yariguin titles in 2018, adds a third Yariguin gold to his long list of accomplishments that also includes Olympic gold (2016) and silver (2020) medals and three NCAA heavyweight championships (2016, 2017, 2018) during his Ohio State career.
