Former Ohio State and New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith was shot to death late Saturday in New Orleans, according to media reports.
Smith, 34, was shot around 11:30 p.m. while in his vehicle on a New Orleans street, reports said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith’s wife was also in the vehicle and was wounded, reports said.
The shooting appeared to have stemmed from a road-rage incident after Smith’s vehicle was involved in a minor collision, New Orleans police told reporters at the scene.
The driver of another vehicle involved in the collision was in police custody early Sunday, as was the gun used in the shooting, officers told reporters at the scene.
