If you recall, earlier today we noted in the series preview that the first goal would be key in the women’s hockey Buckeyes’ battle at North Dakota. Coming into tonight’s game the Fighting Hawks were 13-0-3 when scoring first and 0-13-3 when allowing the first goal. Well, you can make that 0-14-3.
Maddy Field made sure the all-important opening goal belonged to Ohio State, hammering home her team-leading tenth tally of the season. Field’s goal was the only rubber to find the back of the net in the opening frame. The Buckeyes held a 1-0 lead at the break.
