Ohio State fans with a yen to wear the jerseys of their favorite players are working around the school’s recent restrictions by going online and buying counterfeit shirts.
In at least some cases, fans aren’t even aware that the jerseys are bogus, said Rick Van Brimmer, director of trademark and licensing services at Ohio State.
“Some people are shocked,” Van Brimmer said. “They say they got it on Amazon and don’t realize that we’re shutting down stuff on Amazon every day. What we really need is for our fans to realize that’s not our stuff. That’s not legitimate merchandise.
