“It’s ridiculous. It’s totally wrong to do this to an 18-year-old kid who should be in high school, who you talked into coming up there early. You can’t treat people this way,” that’s what Florida’s Cocoa High School football coach John Wilkinson said regarding his former player Jamel Dean, who was disqualified from playing football at Ohio State.
Dean, an incoming freshman, had been recruited as a defensive back and enrolled early in college after receiving a football scholarship from the Buckeyes. In January, he had been deemed unable to play football when Ohio State learned of pre-existing knee problems dating back to injuries from high school.
