College Football Playoff rankings observations: Ohio State-North Carolina should have played this season

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Thoughts on the fifth College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday night.

1. Ohio State and North Carolina should have settled this: The Buckeyes and Tar Heels should have played by now.

No. 6 Ohio State and No. 10 North Carolina are both looking for help this weekend, with the Tar Heels looking to create their own luck in the ACC Championship against No. 1 Clemson.

Both are suffering from a lack of schedule strength. They were supposed to solve that for each other.

Reece Davis started ESPN's selection show on Tuesday by saying that the teams were originally supposed to play this season, which immediately sounded wrong.
