ATHENS – Surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome included removing the top rib on the right side of the body of Ohio University quarterback J.D. Sprague, and the recovery time lasted almost four months.
That meant he could not participate in a single spring practice and fell considerably behind Greg Windham in a fight for the starting position.
Sprague, a redshirt senior from Mason High School north of Cincinnati, said he considers time lost nothing more than a minor setback as the Bobcats go through pre-season camp.
“Obviously, I feel like I’m behind because I missed a month or two,’’ he said during the team’s media day on Monday at Peden Stadium.
