DETROIT - As he talked with players one by one after being hired as Miami University football coach in the winter of 2014, Chuck Martin didn't think he wasn't inheriting a roster of losers.
Although the RedHawks were on a 16-game losing streak, Martin saw good students and good citizens.
“We got great kids who liked each other,” he said. “They had been through a lot. They had to pick themselves up by the bootstraps and blindly go in another direction, and that wasn't easy. We've made strides since then.”
Miami lost five more games before breaking through Oct.
