College football | Former Bowling Green player wins concussion settlement

Bowling Green will pay $712,500 as part of a legal settlement with Cody Silk, a former offensive lineman who said he suffered permanent brain injury because coaches and the team medical staff failed to keep him out of practices after he suffered concussions.

Silk, a redshirt freshman on Bowling Green's 2010 team, filed suit against the university in the Ohio Court of Claims. Silk said he had two concussions but was allowed to participate in full-contact practices until he suffered a third concussion. He was then ruled off the team.

Bowling Green was coached that season by Dave Clawson, now the coach at Wake Forest.
