There was a qualifier when Ashland offered scholarship aid to Zach Olszewski when he was coming out of Pickerington North. The deal was for the 200-pound quarterback to put on weight and become a linebacker.
It helped that Olszewski grew up having to be tough and resilient in a home where three sisters and a brother also were dashing about playing multiple sports. Olszewski not only put on 25 pounds but has transformed into a game-changer for a team that is 10-0 and on the way to the Division II playoffs.
“I was recruited by other Division II schools — Findlay, Walsh and Malone — that wanted me to play quarterback,” he said.
