Ohio State will open at Virginia Tech on Monday, and Virginia has become a battleground state between the two in recruiting.
For example, the Buckeyes already have a commitment from Wayne Davis of Norfolk, Va., one of the top defensive-back prospects nationally for the 2016 class. Bucknuts recruiting analyst Bill Kurelic said Ohio State is working on Davis’ younger teammate Darnell Ewell, considered the 11th best defensive-tackle prospect for 2017.
Kurelic said that Davis was courted by Virginia Tech before he questioned how he might fit in with the Hokies’ use of press coverage by their cornerbacks and picked Ohio State instead.
