Cleveland East Tech’s Markell Johnson, the No. 2 basketball player in Ohio and the composite No. 17 point guard in the 2017 class nationally according to 247Sports, is on schedule to graduate this spring and could reclassify to the 2016 class. That could be good news for Ohio State.
OSU, which had Johnson in for a visit for its upset of Iowa two weeks ago, is among Johnson's top five. Virginia Tech, North Carolina State, Louisville and Cleveland State are the others.
Because of Austin Grandstaff’s early-season departure, OSU has a scholarship available for 2016, and adding an athletic guard to the rotation might be the best way for the Buckeyes to upgrade their roster.
