Bob Hunter commentary | Rumblings: Archie Griffin says Spartans QB apologized

An apparent slight of Ohio State two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin by Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook after the Big Ten championship game on Saturday had people buzzing early this week.

Griffin told Dispatch reporter Tim May that Cook called to apologize for what appeared to be his dismissive grab of the championship game MVP trophy from Griffin on the awards stand after the Spartans beat Iowa. The trophy is named in honor of Griffin and the late Red Grange.

“I accepted his apology,” Griffin said. “It meant a whole lot to me that he would call and do that.
