When the 2002 Ohio State national championship team was honored in Ohio Stadium between the first and second quarters of the 2012 OSU-Michigan game, speculation ran rampant over how the fans would greet former coach Jim Tressel upon his return.
There is no such speculation today as he returns to be honored for his induction into both the Ohio State athletic and college football halls of fame.
Tressel, fired in the spring of 2011 for his role in the memorabilia-for-tattoos scandal that resulted in NCAA sanctions, was accorded his usual rock-star treatment in 2012. The fans cheered wildly while his former players hoisted him on their shoulders and carried him around the north end zone.
