Bob Hunter commentary: College athletes still win after union ruling

The unionization of college football players was never a good idea. As demanding as their coaches can be, as many hours as athletes spend watching tape, lifting weights and riding exercise bikes, as unfair as it is for schools to rake in Brink’s trucks stuffed with money while football players were told to be content with “free” scholarships, it’s difficult for most of us to look at Ezekiel Elliott or Joey Bosa and think “university employee.”

The players don’t wear lanyards that hold their company IDs. They don’t slip into steel gray suits and wear power ties that identify them without an ID — lawyers or middle management.
