An Ohio State spokesperson told Eleven Warriors that McCullough suffered a “pre-camp injury unrelated to football” and left the team prior to preseason camp.
The younger brother of former Ohio State long snapper Liam McCullough, Roen McCullough was viewed as his brother's likely successor when he joined the Buckeyes as a walk-on in 2018. He was in line to remain the backup in his fourth year at Ohio State this year, though, with sixth-year senior Bradley Robinson returning for a second season as the Buckeyes' top long snapper.
Max Lomonico, a freshman walk-on from Pickerington Central High School, is now the only other long snapper on the roster.
