Bad news for babies born Thursday at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center: You just missed being Baby New Year 2016. Good news: You're going home with a very sought-after collectible.
As it has done previously for big Ohio State games, the hospital is passing out Buckeye-themed blankets to babies. These read "Beat the Irish, 1-1-16," a reference to Friday's Fiesta Bowl between the Buckeyes and Notre Dame.
The last batch was passed out during the week before the Buckeyes played Michigan. Hospital officials say no one has ever turned down one of these.
