3-point stance: Has Ohio State used early season as an experiment?

1. One of my favorite things about college football is that every game counts. That’s not the case, for instance, in college basketball, where a hot team at season’s end can make a run to the title. While I am captivated by the way that Ohio State is rounding into shape for the second half of the season, it also seems a little too basketball-like for my taste. Was the Buckeyes’ first-half schedule so soft that Urban Meyer could afford to experiment with quarterback Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett? Or is Ohio State so good that Meyer can focus upon peaking for the run to the playoff?
