Jackson, Tennessee, University School five-star offensive tackle Trey Smith has committed to Tennessee. He made the announcement during a ceremony at his high school this afternoon, which was broadcasted live on ESPNU.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder is considered the fifth-best offensive tackle and the No. 25 prospect overall in the Class of 2017. He picked the Volunteers over finalists Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Ole Miss.
Smith has long been considered a lock for Tennessee, as his sister, Ashley, is head coach Butch Jones' executive assistant. The two have become very close following the death of their mother almost two years ago.
