The Ohio State Buckeyes have had their second player selected in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft in senior left-handed pitcher Ryan Riga.
Riga was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 13th round, the 382 overall selection in the ’15 draft.
The lefty is 6-0 and 210 pounds, and this past season with the Buckeyes, he finished with a 5-4 record in 15 appearances (14 starts). In that span of baseball, he built a 3.32 ERA with one complete game in the process of his final collegiate season.
In his 97.2 innings with Ohio State in ’15, Riga also struck out 71 batters, a career-high for his time with the Buckeyes, as he totaled 55 in 2014 and in his first season with the Buckeyes, Riga had 38 strikeouts in 46.
