The Ohio State Buckeyes lost plenty of talent, with RB Ezekiel Elliott among the top players. With Elliott heading to the NFL, the Buckeyes are in need of a new starting running back. Head coach Urban Meyer said that position battle is "neck and neck."
It's a two-man race to replace Elliott, with Mike Weber and Bri'onte Dunn the two likely candidates. Dunn is a junior, who hasn't seen the field much at Ohio State. He's carried the ball 48 times in his career, for 287 yards and three touchdowns. Last year, he had 14 carries, 91 yards and a score. He's a former four-star recruit from the class of 2012.
Weber was four-star recruit in the class of 2015. He was the No. 2 player from the state of Michigan, with Ohio State beating out the Wolverines to land him. Weber redshirted last season after injuring his knee. Weber might be the favorite to land the starting job.
Speaking of running backs, Freshman Antonio Williams could be the first player to have the black stripe removed from his helmet. That's a sign that a player is ready to contribute. However, Williams remains behind Dunn and Weber on the depth chart.
