Much of the buzz around the Ohio State Buckeyes football program has been about the Cotton Bowl, but there's also the Early Signing Day period of December 20th to the 22nd for Ohio State to concentrate on. The Buckeyes will ink several top prospects during that time frame and the class currently ranks first in the nation with 21 verbal commits. Here's all the latest on Ohio State Football Recruiting:
Florida a new threat to flip Emory Jones
Jones, a four-star quarterback from Franklin, GA, has been committed to Ohio State since July 2016, but he has taken several visits to other schools over the past few months and could flip his commitment this week.
Alabama was previously thought to be the favorite to flip Jones, but after taking a visit to Florida this weekend, the Gators are trending up in a major way with many thinking Jones will actually sign with them.
New Florida head coach Dan Mullen has been pursuing Jones ever since he took and job, and after four-star quarterback Matt Corral flipped his commitment from the Gators to Ole Miss last week, they're going all-in on Jones.
DE target still considering Ohio State
Three-star tight end Casey Rogers (Avon, CT) took an official visit to Ohio State two weekends ago, and after visiting Alabama this past weekend, he is still high on the Buckeyes.
“Both Ohio State and Alabama have great programs,” Rogers told 247sports. “They both have great football, but one is in the South and one the North so they have different but great cultures. I really enjoyed both. Larry Johnson was in contact right before I left for Alabama. Ohio State is absolutely under consideration.
“Other schools are coming into the picture daily. I don’t really have a favorite. My family and I will talk about it.”
Rogers also has scholarship offers from Cal, Rutgers, Temple, and Vanderbilt.
