Four-star linebacker Gary Johnson (Birmingham, AL) is the No. 2 rated JUCO prospect in the country, so it was no surprise when he committed to Alabama.
However, the Ohio State Buckeyes have become a major player - and could get him to flip his commitment.
“Coach (Luke) Fickell and I talk every day,” Johnson said, via 247sports. “Usually we talk on Twitter. He says he likes my athletic ability and speed. He said I could have a huge impact on their team if I go there. I plan on visiting Ohio State.
“I like Ohio State’s defense. I could fit right in. They have a good linebacker program. They send guys to the league just like Alabama. I was offered a scholarship by Ohio State about two weeks ago.”
He plans to make official visits to Ohio State, LSU, Arizona State and Alabama.
Johnson attends Dodge City Community College and is the top inside linebacker JUCO prospect in the 2017 class.
