The Ohio State Buckeyes are turning up the heat on the recruiting trail during the offseason, and it's already paying dividends. Here's all the latest news and rumors surrounding Ohio State's recruiting efforts:
4-star QB expected to commit by end of month
Four-star quarterback Emory Jones (Franklin, GA), the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback and No. 42 overall prospect in the 2018 class, worked out at the Minority Coaches Association of Georgia satellite camp this weekend and drew the attention of the Ohio State coaching staff.
“I talked to coach Meyer from Ohio State and coach (Tim) Beck, they were with me the whole time,” Jones told 247sports. “Coach Beck he was working with the quarterbacks so he had hands on working with me. And coach Meyer he told some receivers some routes he wanted me to throw.”
The Buckeyes offered him a scholarship last month, which he called a "dream" offer. He is showing interest in Clemson and Tennessee, but it's clear Ohio State is his favorite.
“Well, I love them,” he said. “Just the attention they have shown me. So I haven’t been up there to visit yet so I just have to see what they have to offer me then.”
He plans to make a decision by the end of the month, and when he does, he's expected to commit to the Buckeyes.
Auburn to flip 5-star Ohio State commit?
Five-star cornerback Shaun Wade (Jacksonville, FL) has been committed to Ohio State since January 2015, and though he says he's still solid on his commitment, he is taking a harder look at Auburn.
“They’ve really been talking to my parents to be honest,” Wade said, via 247sports. “And they came by (the school) in the spring. I’ve never been. I just want to see their DBs and what they have, talk to their coaching staff and see how they act, talk to the players, see how the school is.”
Wade is originally from the state of Alabama, and he says he still considers it home - which certainly works in favor of Auburn.
The 6'3", 177-pounder is ranked as the No. 2 cornerback and No. 13 overall prospect in the country.
