Spring practice is rapidly approaching for schools around the country. The Ohio State Buckeyes start their spring practice in less than a month. While that has the attention of the coaching staff, recruiting is a never-ending process. OSU head coach Urban Meyer and his coaching staff are already hard at work putting together the pieces of the 2017 recruiting class.
We're here to detail the three most interesting stories on the wire right now with our Ohio State Football Pre-Spring Practice Recruiting Rumors Roundup For Feb. 19th.
Five-Star OT Puts OSU In Top 5
OT Isaiah Wilson is a five-star recruit and the No. 16 overall recruit. He told 247Sports that his top five schools are, in no particular order, Michigan, Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Ohio State. Wilson is the top recruit from New York and said Ohio State's storied tradition was a big reason why he's interested in Ohio State. The Wolverines are the only school from that group Wilson has visited and they are the current favorite.
Top 30 Recruit Says He'll Visit Buckeyes
D'Andre Swift is the No. 30 overall recruit and the No. 1 all-purpose back in the nation. The four-star recruit said he hasn't visited Ohio State yet, but he will in the future.
"I’ve been there with my team, but not on a visit," Swift told 247Sports. "Most likely I’ll visit there in the summer. I’ll definitely visit Ohio State. They offered me around the end of my junior season. Right now I’m just building a good relationship with coach [Tony] Alford."
Swift will likely play the role of running back/slot receiver, a role reminiscent of the one Percy Harvin had under Meyer at Florida. Swift has numerous offers, and several teams are pursuing him. Ohio State has a tough road ahead to land Swift.
No. 1 DT For 2018 Interested In Ohio State
The recruiting process is never limited to just the coming season. While Ohio State's priority is the 2017 class, the Buckeyes are keeping their eye on the 2018 class. That includes DT Taron Vincent, the top ranked recruit in the 2018 class. 247 Sports rates him as a four-star players and the No. 18 overall recruit.
"I'm not really having favorites right now," Vincent told 247Sports. "I do have high interest in those schools [Ohio State and Wisconsin]. I also like Texas A&M, Florida State, and Clemson."
While Vincent won't commit for sometime, 247Sports projects the Buckeyes are the current favorites to land him.
