Fall recruiting season is ramping up right now for all college football teams, making this a crucial time for head coaches and their staffs to make plays for blue-chippers around the nation. The Ohio State Buckeyes are no exception. With that being said, here's our weekend recruiting preview for the program.
Ohio State has "major love" for 2017 ATH
The Buckeyes have their eyes peeled for elite secondary players in the Class of 2017, and one of the names near the top of their list right now is 4-star Lawrenceville (GA) Archer ATH Jamyest Williams.
"I talk to Ohio State all the time," Williams said to 247Sports recently. "I just spoke to Coach [Kerry] Coombs on Wednesday night. I also talk to Urban [Meyer] and [Chris] Ash once a week. They are showing major love. They want me bad."
Williams holds around 40 offers right now. He is the 6th-ranked athlete in the Class of 2017, according to 247Sports, and is considered to be a lean towards in-state UGA.
Tennessee commit keeping OSU in the mix
4-star Cornelius (NC) defensive back Marquill Osbourne has been in contact with Buckeyes defensive coordinator Chris Ash as of late, and the 2016 recruit is giving the program a long look despite having been committed to the Tennessee Vols for over a year.
“Ohio State gives me another opportunity,” Osborne said. “I’ll definitely look into them. We are looking at games and dates. I’ll probably make an official visit there. I’ll take some other official visits too. Not all of them, but a few.”
3-Star VA Tech looking for OSU flip?
Listed as the #63 cornerback in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports, Green (SC) recruit and Virginia Tech commit Troy Pride told 247Sports that Notre Dame, North Carolina and Tennessee all sit in second place right now behind the Hokies. However, he added that Ohio State and USC would pique his interest if they decided to extend offers his way.
