We're just one day away from National Signing Day on February 3rd, which means head coach Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes are focusing their efforts in hopes of delivering a great 2016 recruiting class. With that in mind, here are the latest news and rumors you need to know for Ohio State Football Recruiting:
Buckeyes reportedly lead for top JUCO OT
Four-star offensive lineman Malcolm Pridgeon from Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY is expected to sign with Ohio State on Signing Day, according to 247sports, who say the Buckeyes' proximity to his home in New York has them in front. However, OSU receiving plenty of competition.
“There are four schools, Ohio State, Baylor, Florida, and West Virginia,” Nassau coach Billy Sullivan said. “But really it’s down to two, Ohio State and Baylor. He can’t find any negatives about either one. He has been going back and forth. It’s like having the chance to date two pretty girls. He wants to talk things over with his family today.”
The 6'8", 303-pound Pridgeon is ranked as the No. 4 JUCO prospect in the country. Read more about Ohio State recruiting in the Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps.
Jordan Fuller makes Ohio State top recruiting class again
Four-star athlete Jordan Fuller announced his commitment to Ohio State yesterday, picking the Buckeyes over Michigan and Notre Dame. Fuller will play cornerback for Ohio State, but he has also helped boost their recruiting class back into the No. 1 spot.
The Buckeyes held the top ranking among all recruiting services for the past few weeks before LSU retook the spot from them after they signed five-star defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence two weeks ago. However, Fuller's commit moved Ohio State back to No. 1 in Rivals' rankings and into a "virtual tie" for first in 247sports' rankings.
More commits to come on Signing Day
Ohio State already has 23 commitments in the 2016 class, but there are several other big-name prospects deciding on National Signing Day that could cement the Buckeyes' spot as the top class in the country. On top of Pridgeon's decision, four-star defensive back Carlos Becker and three-star athlete Malik Harrison are also expected to commit to Ohio State on Wednesday.
