Latest Ohio State football news: Braxton Miller got off to a hot start vs. Buffalo last weekend, landing him #3 on the Heisman Predictor Poll - an unbiased, statistical prediction of who is most likely to win the Heisman, based on 2+ decades of statistical analysis on what it takes to win the award.
Miller has a lot of positive momentum going for him that make him incredibly likely to the award, or at least be in the top 2-3 vote getters.
1. He has incredible name recognition with voters. The Chat Sports statistical analysis ranks Braxton #4 in 'name recognition' of all college players likely to compete for the award. One of the players ahead of him, Jadeveon Clowney, plays defense and is unlikely to be a serious threat. Braxton ranks only behind AJ McCarron and Johnny Manziel in name recognition.
2. Playing for a top team: The last 2 winners have bucked a trend of recent Heisman winners: A QB on a team that was playing for the BCS Championship. RGIII and Manziel relied on raw shock and awe stats to burst past players starring for a #1 or #2 team. Prior to 2011, 9 of the last 11 winners played in that years BCS Championship game. One of the two who didn't, Tim Tebow, played in the game the year before and after his Heisman.
3. Stats - Urban knows how to pad the stat sheets for his QB.
With each game in September expected to be a blowout fr the Buckeyes, will Urban leave Braxton in the game long enough to pad his stats? We will have to wait and see.
