Four-star Lexington (Ky.) Lafayette offensive lineman Landon Young has committed to the in-state Kentucky Wildcats for almost two years now, but that's not deterring Urban Meyer and his Ohio State Buckeyes coaching staff from attempting to flip the coveted tackle.
Young made the trip to Columbus this weekend to attend Nike's The Opening Ohio Regional on Sunday, but he made sure to pay a visit to Ohio State the day before with his parents, spending the entire day on campus.
“It was awesome,” Young said, via 247Sports.“I’ve been up there before for a camp. I came back just to be able to see everything. I’m trying to keep my recruiting open and make sure that I know for sure where I want to go when that day comes – so I don’t wake up in a year and say I made a mistake. So it was awesome.
“I got to see a lot of stuff I hadn’t seen before. I got to talk to coaches that were really nice and they got to explain a lot of things to me that I didn’t know already about Ohio State.”
Young was also able to work in a chat with Urban Meyer.
“It went good,” Young said. “I talked with him in his office with my parents. It went really well.”
So, with all this being said, is Ohio State really a player to flip him?
"Yes sir,” Young said. “They’re in my top four. After Kentucky I sort of have a tie. After the visit Ohio State came up in my rankings a little bit more. It’s Ohio State, Alabama and Auburn.”
Don't expect a decision too soon from the 6-foot-7, 270-pounder though...
“After I make my official visits,” Young said about when he'd end his recruitment. “Ohio State will be one of them.”
Young is ranked as the #18 offensive tackle in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.
