The Ohio State Buckeyes have taken the lead in the race to land 2017 Hinesville (GA) Liberty County athlete Richard LeCounte, and the program's winning tradition may be enough to convince him to come to Columbus when all is said and done.
"Ohio State leads Georgia, Clemson and Miami, in order," LeCounte said, via 247Sports. "The Buckeyes have a tradition of winning and nice facilities, and even though it is kind of cold up there, it is still a really good place to be. I talk to Raekwon McMillan everyday, and while he does not push me to be a Buckeye, he still lets me know what is going on there."
Don't count Georgia out, however. The Bulldogs are employing a multifaceted pitch to convince LeCounte to remain in his home state.
"Georgia is the hometown school and I am really excited to have an offer and opportunity to play for the in-state team," LeCounte said.
"They are selling me, not only on playing for the hometown state, but also being a top contender for that starting job when I come in there," LeCounte added. "Playing time is a real big deal with me, so when I get there I want to be able to compete for snaps immediately."
LeCounte is currently ranked as the #2 prospect in the state of Georgia for the Class of 2017 (by 247Sports) and comes in as the #22 prospect in the nation altogether.
