The Ohio State Buckeyes’ south Florida Satellite Camp at FAU has been an absolute success, with several of the state of Florida's top prospects joining Buckeyes officials and coaches at the camp.
Five-star 2017 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Trevon Grimes was one of the attendees, and he came away from the experience on Wednesday extremely impressed.
“It was amazing,” Grimes said about his time at the camp, via 247Sports. “Feels good to come out here and be able to work with these coaches – national champion coaches.”
One of the first people that greeted Grimes while he was leaving camp was head coach Urban Meyer.
“He just came up and he said thanks for coming out here,” Grimes said. “For him to say that to me, that’s a big honor – a lot of love. That is definitely one of the reasons why I definitely call them my leader school. The love they have for me, the love I have for them, the connection we’ve built over these past couple of months is just outrageous, it’s unbelievable how close we have gotten over the past couple of months. I definitely feel it’s a blessing for him to come up to me and welcome me to his camp. It definitely feels good.”
There was even a little bit of a commitment itch while Grimes was attending the showcase.
“There was a little thought about it,” Grimes said. “I know everybody was talking about Trevon on commitment watch. But nothing happened today. Me and him we just talked. We had a good time, I had a good experience out here. And it definitely keeps them at the top. They’ve been at the top for a while. They are still at the top. It’s just like icing on the cake right now. I definitely feel like something could happen in the future, but time will tell.”
