After receiving news of Kosta Karageorge's death on Sunday, challenges on the football field instantly became secondary for Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer.
"Tough week," Meyer said Monday during his weekly press conference, via Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports.
"This is so much deeper than lining up on a football field," Meyer said of Karageorge's passing, and the emotions and natural grieving process that the whole Ohio State community is experiencing.
Meyer remains as respectful and mindful during this tough times as you'd expect, but he's doing his best to press forward and address what he calls "'Championship Week' here at Ohio State."
Down to projected third-string quarterback Cardale Jones after sensational first-year signal caller JT Barrett's season-ending injury, Meyer knows the team has a lot to overcome when it comes to their Big Ten title clash against the Wisconsin Badgers.
"Every red flag's up," Meyer said. "Every excuse is out there to not play well, to not win a game, to lose a game. You have some really good built-in excuses. And to overcome the incredible tragedy that occurred last night, this is a real challenge."
"I can just say, this is an extremely close team that does a lot of things together and cares about each other," he added.
