The Ohio State Buckeyes host Virginia Tech, looking to put together a stronger showing after encountering some struggles against Navy last week.
J.T. Barrett gets the start again with Braxton Miller out for the year.
Virginia Tech put the first points of the night on the board with a two yard touchdown run by Shai McKenzie.
Barrett and the Buckeyes offense began to find a rhythm on the following drive, with a few quarterback-keepers and a pass interference on Virginia Tech helping to set them up for the game-tying score on a draw by Barrett.
Virginia Tech went right back on top with a 14 yard touchdown run by Marshawn Williams late in the first quarter.
Barrett led the offense back down the field but Ohio State came away with no points after missing a 40 yard field goal try.
They had another opportunity shortly after, with Barrett finding receiver Devin Smith for a 58 yard gain to set up a redzone trip, but once again missed a field goal from 27 yards out.
Virginia Tech hung onto a 14-7 lead late into the first-half, but were able to extend it to 21-7 after a 10 yard touchdown pass by quarterback Michael Brewer.
First-half MVP: J.T. Barrett (Ohio State) - 4/11, 113 yards, 11 carries, 73 yards and a touchdown
Second-half Prediction: Barrett is leading the Buckeyes offense effectively, but Ohio State has not been able to capitalize on their chances thus far.
Letting Virginia Tech take the lead is asking for trouble, so Ohio State needs to make some plays to close the gap and eventually distance themselves from the Hokies. Barrett should be more than capable of doing just that and leading Ohio State to a victory.
