Ohio State University President Gordon Gee will retire on July 1, follow a series of verbal blunders proving very embarrassing to the university.
Back in December, Gee made remarks referring to Notre Dame as “those damn Catholics,” joking that priests there may be holy on Sunday, but are “holy hell” otherwise. He made disparaging comments about the intellect of students in the Southeastern Conference and the University of Louisville. He also took jabs at schools, such as the University of Cincinnati, that he said are unworthy of joining the Big Ten.
Gee has insisted his comments were nothing but harmless jokes, but they have not been taken that way. Gee will announce his retirement in an email to the University community this afternoon.
